Welcome to my Site!

A few years ago, I was in a pretty serious car accident. During the aftermath, I became really familiar with a lot of different types of lawyers. I worked with personal injury lawyers, insurance lawyers, and many others. Perhaps the most important, though, was the estate planning lawyer. I was really young, and neither my wife or I had thought about starting a will. But the accident kind of scared us into it. What would happen if one of us were to die? Even when still in the hospital, I was working with the lawyer to draw up a will. Now, I have some peace and security about what the future will be like if something should happen to me. And I have a lot of experience working with various types of lawyers! The accident was kind of a blessing in disguise in that way.

2 Reasons To See An Attorney After A Car Accident

Law Blog

If you have been in a car accident, there are a lot of things that you know that you have to do. One of the things that you should do, but might not think of doing, is to go see an attorney who works with motor vehicle accidents. There are several reasons that you should go see one of these attorneys after your car accident, no matter what.

Negotiations

One of the reasons that you should talk to an attorney is because you may have to negotiate with your car insurance company and the insurance company of anyone else involved in the accident. Car insurance companies are going to have attorneys on their side, as well as people who have been doing this kind of work for a long time. That leaves you at a disadvantage, especially if you have never been in a car accident before and you aren't familiar with all the laws that surround car accidents. Your attorney is going to make sure that the insurance company and their agencies aren't going to take advantage of you and not give you everything that you are entitled to.

Court Appearances

Depending on what happened with the accident, you may have to go to court. You may end up in traffic court because of tickets or other situations around the accident. You may also end up in civil court because you are being sued by other people involved in the accident. Or you may need to sue someone. For example, if the other driver didn't have car insurance, you may want to take them to court to try to recover some of the costs that you have to pay for out of pocket. That can include deductibles on repair or replacement costs and medical bills, as well as things like pain and suffering. Your attorney should be able to defend you in traffic court and help you when it comes to defending you in a lawsuit or tell you what you need to do in order to file a suit. The lawyer should also be able to tell you what you can and can't sue for and what kind of limits you may have on what you can file for.

If you have been in a car accident, then you need to make sure that you talk to your insurance company and do everything that they tell you to. You should also contact an attorney to see how they can help you in the aftermath of the accident. For more information, contact a company like Endres Law Firm.
